We are going to try something new for this year. I was ask if we would be interested in a never before used mode that should be interesting to try. Bill Hartsell, N3WSH is a private pilot and he is going to fly the route both Eastbound and Westbound.
We have set up a special ” Aeronautical Rover” using the event callsign of W6Y. He will start in Chicago then fly for about four days as he reaches to Santa Monica then back to Oklahoma City.
He will be using his flying club’s Cessna 172 tail number N61571 flying at about 7,000 feet.
He will be operating on 2 meters using 146.490 simpex. This will be like tracking satellites by you’ll only be able to work him when over your area.
You can use the computer site of https://globe.adsbexchange.com/ to track his flight. It’s a free site and will give you the flight info and show where he is. Use the search tool found on the right side of the page, simply type in the tail number and hit enter.
PLEASE NOTE: This will be a bonus or wildcard station, so those that are trying to get a “Clean Sweep” for the event, this station is NOT one you’ll need to work to get the clean sweep. Just a added bonus.
Please understand that the below flight plan shown is approximate and can change due to weather, mechanical issues or other things that may come up.
